Laurence Sherzer, Ph.D., is a retired professor of mathematics. His mathematical background has allowed him to apply certain set theoretical concepts to language with poignant results. He is the author of the AVT Learning Systems in Basic Mathematics, published by Media Systems a subsidiary of Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. His Learning Programs have served as the foundation for Learning Laboratories in colleges and universities throughout the country. His interest in language as a means of communication and a human tool has been lifelong, culminating in the theories of language and meaning he presents in The Key to Language. He lives in Naples, Florida.
